English Literature
Title & Level: AS/A Level English Literature (Level 3)Introduction
During this course, you will read widely and analyse novels, poetry and plays to see how they are written and what meaning they have for us. You will concentrate in detail on 12 texts over two years and you will also be introduced to a wide range of literature through the study of extracts.
Entry requirements
Standard entry requirements apply, including GCSE English at grade A* to B, but in some cases a C may be acceptable. Most importantly, you should enjoy reading!
Duration
One year for AS Level. Two years for A Level. Enrolment in September only.
Career Prospects/Progression
Many students continue to Higher Education courses. As well as preparing you for an English Literature degree, this subject is valuable for courses, such as Humanities, Journalism or Education.
How will I be assessed?
At the end of your first year, your knowledge and understanding will be assessed in one exam and you will also be required to do a piece of coursework. In the second year, you will do one exam at the end of the year and a piece of coursework.

All modules are compulsory.
Course expenses
You may need to purchase your own set texts and other related texts. There may also be an optional theatre trip which you will be required to fund.
