"Hello this is James Hampton and as principal I would like to wish you a really warm welcome to Yeovil College.
We had an incredibly successful year last year, and you have probably heard of our amazing 100% success rate in our Full-time A level programme. This video will show more of the outstanding achievements of our students in 2008.
The recent awards ceremony is a demonstration of the skills and abilities shown by our students throughout the year. They have also been involved in community and charity projects.
In 2008 the College's Art & Design, Performing Arts and Hair & Beauty departments held a fashion show demonstrating the extraordinary creativity of these departments' students; drawing an audience from across the county.
Our sports students have performed and enjoyed success at National and International levels representing British Colleges Sports across a number of disciplines.
A band of our BND Music Practice students played at Glastonbury festival.
Our aim is to provide learning opportunities to the whole community. We offer courses from Entry level through to AS and A level, vocational courses and also Foundation and full degrees at out University Centre Yeovil (UCY) in Preston Road. We also have a growing range of courses for 14 to 16 year olds with the successful completion of out first young apprenticeship scheme and the development of our diplomas.
To help you, after achieving your qualifications, we have a really experienced careers, information and guidance team to help you with your career choices.
Our reputation for high level teaching and resources is well deserved, with heavy investment over recent years in resources, high quality teaching rooms with interactive white boards, IT equipment, Leaning Centre with virtual library containing over 1500 e-books and thousands of e-journals.
Last year the first student were able to enjoy the excellent learning facilities in our brand new, 5.7 million pound investment, Leonardo building providing you with superb Arts, Engineering and Media facilities.
With one of the widest vocational programmes in the county we offer specialist workshops and technical equipment to learn those vital skills employers demand. Our centres of technical excellence in Advanced Engineering and Hospitality provide state of the art and specialist equipment to learn high level skills.
Really important is our exceptional personal tutorial system ensuring you receive all the support and motivation you need throughout your studies with us. We also encourage you to tell us about any additional learning needs, difficulties or disabilities so we can identify positive ways to support you.
So as you can see here at Yeovil College you have enormous support to help you reach your goals and achieve your dreams.
