Title & Level: Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) Active Leisure and Learning – Coaching
Introduction
This is a nationally recognised Sports and Recreation Apprenticeship, specifically designed to give you the right combination of practical and theoretical knowledge and skills to develop within the industry. This Apprenticeship is aimed at students working in Coaching and aims to provide you with greater career opportunities in this area. The programme encompasses an NVQ (Level 2) Coaching, Teaching and Instructing, BTEC Award (Level 2) in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning and a BTEC First Diploma (Level 2) in Sport.
Entry requirements
You need GCSEs ranging from grades up to C and experience of coaching and instructing in an assistant role. You also need to either be currently working in or about to begin a suitable work placement.
Duration
This is a one year course.
Career Prospects/Progression
If you successfully complete this qualification, you can apply for a wide range of public sector occupations, such as Administrator in a public sector organisation, British Army Officer, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force Officers, Civil Service Officer, Civil Service Management Trainee, Police Officer, Team Leader, Youth and Community Worker, Prison Officer, Security/Health and Safety Officer, Fire Service, Ambulance Driver. For some professions, for example Paramedic, you may need to complete further courses and qualifications. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to a further qualification at Level 3.
How will I be assessed?
You will complete written and practical assessments and a portfolio of evidence.

Course expenses
Optional sports Kit - £95.
Work Experience
You will attend your work placement for all sessions and complete your Apprenticeship through an agreed timetable with your allocated tutor at Yeovil College.
Trips/Residentials
Trips include visits to the fire and police stations and other relevant sites, as well visits to a range of destinations for outdoor activities including raft building, map reading and rope work.
