Apprenticeship (Level 2) Warehousing and Storage
Title & Level: Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) Warehousing and StorageIntroduction
This Apprenticeship is designed for students working in a Warehousing, Distribution and Storage environment. During the course, you will develop skills in a number of related specialist areas so that you can operate more effectively in your working environment. Areas covered include health and safety, developing effective working relationships and checking stock levels.
Entry requirements
You need GCSEs in English and Maths at grade D or above and either be working or about to begin work in a Warehousing and Distribution environment.
Duration
This is a one year course, with flexibility to fit in around your job role. Enrolment can be at any time of the year.
Career Prospects/Progression
If you successfully complete the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship, you can normally progress on to a Team Leading or Quality Assurance qualification.
How will I be assessed?
Through continuous assessment via observations, professional discussions, personal statements and procedure evidence. A qualified College assessor will visit you in your workplace to assess your practical skills whilst you are working in your job role. Your supervisor at work may be asked for a statement to confirm competence in particular practical activities. The Functional Skills element is dependent on your previous qualifications e.g. GCSE results.
Course Content/units
This Apprenticeship consists of six parts:
- Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Warehousing and Storage
- NVQ Certificate (Level 2) Warehousing and Storage
- Functional Skills in Maths
- Functional Skills in English
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
For the theoretical element of your course, you will complete the following units:
- Health, safety and security within a warehousing and storage environment
- Developing effective working relationships with colleagues
- Developing working practices in a warehousing and storage environment
For the practical aspects of your course, you can choose from a range of units relevant to your role. The following are indicative of a typical Warehousing and Storage programme, as students make use of the knowledge gained above:
- Health, Safety and Security at Work
- Develop Effective Working Relationships with Colleagues in Logistic Operations
- Place Goods in Storage in Logistics Operations Assemble Orders for Dispatch in Logistics Operations
- Keep Work Areas Clean in Logistics Operations Moving and/or Handling Goods in Logistics Operations
- Check Stock Level and Stock Records
- Maintain the Safety and Security of Hazardous Goods and Materials in Logistics Operations
