Title and Level: AS/A Level Art & Design (Level 3)

Introduction
This course covers areas of fine art such as drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture and explores the work of various artists, art movements and themes.  Coursework encourages you to develop skills and understanding of visual language and associated practical skills, whilst placing the work in context through practicals and researching the work of others.

Entry requirements
Standard entry requirements apply, including B to C grade in GCSE Art and GCSE English.

Duration
The AS Level is a one year course and the A Level is a two year course. Enrolment is only in September.

Career Prospects/Progression
This course is good preparation for an Art Foundation course or other specific Higher Education qualifications, such as those available through Yeovil College and the UCY. You can also progress to further training or employment in related areas.

How will I be assessed?
Through continuous assessment, assignments and examinations.

Course expenses
Approximately £30 for materials, plus any costs for your final, major project, which will depend upon your final artefact.  Trips fund of approximately £50.

Trips/Residentials
 There are opportunities to visit national galleries and exhibitions such as Whitechapel, Saatchi and Tate Modern.
