BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Title and Level: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
This course replaces the BTEC National Certificate

Introduction
The BTEC Diploma provides a specialist work related course of study that covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the sector.  The BTEC Diploma offers flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the specialist units.  It is broadly equivalent to two A Levels. For adult learners the BTEC Diploma compliments their experience of related work. It is a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into a particular area of employment following a career break.

Entry Requirements
GCSE Grade B in Maths.  Grade C in English, Science and another technical subject.

It is not necessary to have previous experience,  but an aptitude for Maths and practical subjects is preferable.

Duration
Year 1 Mondays 9:00am - 6.00pm
Year 2 Tuesdays 9.00am to 6.00pm
The mode of attendance is day release.

Careers prospects/Progression
On successful completion of a BTEC Diploma, learners can progress into or within employment, and/or continue their study in the same vocational area to an Higher National Certificate (HNC) and later an Higher National Diploma (HND).

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through assignments and coursework.  Clear deadlines will be set for every assignment and a hand in date which will be on the front sheet of the assignment.

The course covers units that are chosen to support the need of local industry, such as:
-  Engineering Drawing for Technicians
-  Mathematics for Technicians
-  Mechanical Principles and Applications
-  Engineering Primary forming Processes
-  Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials
-  Business Systems for Technicians
-  Computer Aided Drafting

Course fees:
Year 1 £1400 (£175 if you are in reciept of certain benefits)
Yer 2 £1226
