Title and Level: Children and Young People Level 3 Diploma

Introduction
This Level 3 qualification is intended if you work as a supervisor or key worker in a childcare setting such as a nursery, pre-school or school. You will be required to attend fortnightly College workshops. You will also be allocated an assessor for 1:1 guidance and assessment in your workplace. This Level 3 course is run over four terms. There is a second opportunity to start this course in the spring.

Entry Requirements
A Level 2 Childcare qualification is required.  You will need to be working at least ten hours a week in a childcare setting. You must be working in a role of responsibility, involved in planning and observing children in your setting to enable you to * Sound background and experience as a childcare practitioner within the age range 0 to 19 years.

Career Prospects/Progression
Progression could be to a Foundation degree in Early Years or other Level 4/5 qualifications such as Level 5 Care, Leadership & Management

Duration
Tuesdays 13:00 - 16:00 for four terms (September start)
Wednesday 17:30 - 20:30 for four terms (April start)

How will I be assessed?
You will build a portfolio of evidence through weekly workshops in College and observations in the workplace to demonstarte your competence at this level.

Course Content
You will attend workshops to discuss and share your knowledge and experience.  Your assessor will observe you in the workplace.

Course expenses
Course fees: £950.00 (£136.00 if you are in receipt of certain benefits)

You will need to supply stationery - files, dividers etc to build your portfolio.  A Level 3 Childcare handbook will cost approximately £20.
