Early Years Foundation degree

Title and Level: Foundation degree in Early Years Year 1

Introduction
This vocational course deals with the practice and theory requirements if you are working with children under the age of eight and includes the developmental and educational needs of those in your care. It is ideal if you are working with young children and want to learn more about childcare and enhance your career prospects by gaining a degree or early years professional status.

This is the first year of a three year course.

Entry Requirements
It is expected that you will already have basic computer skills or will be prepared to acquire them. You will also need a Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years or related subject. You will be accepted on interview. An enhanced CRB is required.

Duration 
Three years part-time. You will attend sessions one afternoon or evening a week, with some additional full day workshops.

Monday afternoon 13:00 - 17:00 or Monday evening 16:00 - 20:00

Careers prospects/Progression
This course is recognised by the CWDC as preparation for Early Years P.S. in Childcare. It would also form the basis for further study in the final stage of an honours degree and could lead towards a teaching qualification.

How will I be assessed
You will be assessed through assignments issued throughout the course. These may include individual problem solving or group work and presentations. Your assignments will be based around your own experience in practice.

Course content/units
You will be taught by lecture and seminar, which will involve some group work. Research and reading around topics outside of scheduled classes will further develop your knowledge and will be essential to your success on the course. You will be expected to spend time on research and assignment preparation and group work activities that you are asked to complete.

Course fees: £900.00 per year.
