Title and Level: English GCSE
Introduction
The structure of the course and the method of teaching aim specifically to develop the confidence of those returning to education. The course looks to improve your ability to read carefully and to transmit your thoughts clearly and briefly. This course is particularly suitable for learners who gained the move on English qualification.
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for mature learners, just enthusiasm for learning and reading
Existing full and part time Yeovil College learners should have achieved a grade ‘D' if retaking

Tuesdays 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Career prospects/progression
Once competed students GCSE learners can go on to study AS Level English literature or any course which requires confidence in writing and reading skills
How will I be assessed?
Two terminal exams and coursework.
Course Contents
The course is structured around the four pieces of written coursework required; you will present a folder including pieces of personal writing, a response to a Shakespeare piece, a piece of persuasive writing and three oral coursework assignments.
Course Expenses
Course fees: £252 (£42 if you are in receipt of certain benefits)
Other course expenses will be advised at the first session.
Reading material may have to be brought if books are not provided.
