Title and Level: Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma
Introduction
This course is intended for those working in a care setting in a supervisory or key worker role. Please note that all workers in this sector will need CRB clearance. Guided study is via fortnightly workshops and you will be expected to attend regularly. You will need support from your placement in order to achieve. You will be allocated individual assessment time with one of our vocationally qualified assessors, who will guide you through the award and observe you in the workplace during your course. This Level 3 course is run over four terms.
Entry Requirements
You must have a good standard of general education and be able to demonstrate good literacy and communication skills. You will be working in an appropriate care setting. Your employer will need to agree to you having a peripetetic assessor and being observed carrying out real work activities.
The nature of the work with vulnerable client groups means that you will require a full, current Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure.

Health & Social Care Leadership & Management Care Services or Foundation degree in Health & Social Care.
Duration
Wednesdays 10.30am to 12.30pm over four terms starting in September 2011 and April 2012
How will I be assessed?
Assessed by work based observation and portfolio. Up to 15 hours per year 1:1 with an assessor for a maximum of one year. Those who do not achieve within this one year time limit can opt to pay.
Course Content
You will work one to one with your allocated assessor. You will be expected to attend workshops and related short courses on a regular basis to gain additional knowledge following negotiation with your assessor and the course manager.

General materials for building a portfolio will be required.
