New Diplomas

These new qualifications are aimed to link study with the world of work, with a strong emphasis on enterprise. The Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grades D-G, the Higher Diploma has a value of 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C while the Advanced Diploma is worth 3.5 A levels.

 Modules:

Varies

 Hours per week:

 

Foundation: 17 over 1 year
Higher: 20 over 1 year
Advanced: 13 per week over 2 years

 Assessment:

One unit of study is externally assessed, all others are internally assessed pieces of coursework

 Programme:

 

 

 

Students completing these new qualifications will need to achieve all
components of the course to be awarded the full Diploma:-
                Principal learning in the subject area
                Additional or specialist qualification (could be a  GCSE or A level)
                Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
                Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT Project
                A 10 day period of work placement
