Title & Level: Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Introduction
This course consists of four compulsory core modules to include: Curriculum Issues, Research, Professional Practice and Teaching Learning and Resourcing.  Completion of the PGCE (PCE) will give you a professional teaching qualification suitable for all lecturers and trainers.

Entry requirements
Completion of Year 1 CTLLS or C&G 7307/7407 Stages 1 and 2 or equivalent.  All applicants will be expected to show that they have 150 hours of teaching work to complete the practical parts of the course.

Duration
Weekly morning classes of 3 hours together with three blocks of seven weeks attendance at afternoon classes for the elective studies.

BEd, MEd

Course Contents
Year two examines education issues in more depth and includes topics such as Teaching, Learning and Resourcing, Curriculum, Assessment and Evaluation, Researching Education and the professional role.  There will also be a range of option topics. Completion of the CE will give a professional teaching qualification suitable for all lecturers, trainers and instructors employed in all post sixteen education and training services.  It provides high quality delivery combined with professional tutor

How will I be assessed
Ongoing teaching observations and written assessments.  All work will be subject to moderation by an external examiner.
