Yeovil has an excellent reputation for the development of talented performers. Our teams and individuals have been successful in regional and national level competitions, with some achieving international acclaim. We have many students who participate in a variety of national sports teams including athletics, rugby, football, netball, hockey, swimming, trampolining and volleyball.

Past students have competed in the Olympic Games and secured professional sports contracts.

Yeovil College is part of the TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) which provides support and services for Elite Sports Performers. The College also runs Gifted and Talented programmes for secondary school pupils at Years 9, 10, and 11.

In addition, the RFU has awarded Yeovil College Beacon status for its excellence in rugby provision for both men and women. The College also has Premier Status for badminton and is currently working towards Focus status for football.

As a Yeovil College student, you will have access to high-level coaching staff and established facilities including sports hall, sports training pitches, synthetic athletics track and purpose-built gym with Olympic free weights and resistance machines. Support services include; strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, sport science support.

Development of Coaches

The College also develops talented coaches, sports leaders and officials working with schools, sports clubs and the local authority. We offer National Governing Bodies (NGB) coaching qualifications in addition to recognised leadership courses (JSLA Community Sports Leadership Award and Higher Sports Leadership Award) and volunteer sport schemes such as Step into Sport.
