The British Science Association CREativity in Science and Technology (CREST) Investigators (award scheme)

This science and technology award scheme is aimed at primary aged students and comprises of exciting and engaging practical investigations. Students work either individually or in teams, and there is support materials included in the resources. The scheme operates through your local STEMPOINT.

Greenpower Goblins (competition)

Greenpower Goblins is a practical engineering project in which students build a ‘racing car’ and race against others.

Junior Engineers of Britain (K’Nex)

Junior Engineers

This competition is sponsored by Hasbro and run by Young engineers through you local STEMPOINT. It has four tiers:

  1. school
  2. area
  3. regional
  4. national

and is open to students in years 3,4,5 and 6. The aim of the challenge is to provide primary school students with an introduction to the exciting world of engineering and technology.

Nuffield Foundation Primary D&T (curriculum support)

A set of teaching materials including a CD ROM and 24 units of work with a teacher guide and a sample of unit of work can be purchased from the Design and Technology Association. The units of work are also available free of charge on the website.
